Man on Train Wheels Video Exposed as Fake: Railway Clarifies
Man Allegedly Travels 290 Kilometers on Train Wheels: Viral Video Sparks Railway Response
A video that has recently gone viral purportedly shows a man emerging from beneath a train at the Jabalpur station in Madhya Pradesh, India, after allegedly traveling 290 kilometers in a dangerous manner. This has prompted a response from the Indian Railways, questioning the authenticity of such claims.
Incident Details: Emerging from Danger
The video depicts the man getting out of a train, engaging in a handshake, and then departing the station. However, the veracity of the video remains unconfirmed by LiveMint. The incident took place on the Danapur Express, which operates between Itarsi and Jabalpur, and came to light at the Jabalpur station.
Railway personnel from the Carriage and Wagon Department first noticed unusual activities under the AC-4 coach of the Pune-Danapur Express, prompting them to instruct the loco pilot to halt the train. Upon inspection, the man was found and subsequently handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Alleged Motivation and Mental Health Concerns
According to Jansatta, the man confessed that his inability to purchase a ticket led him to undertake this perilous journey. Nonetheless, officials suggested that the individual appeared to be mentally unstable. The RPF is currently attempting to identify the man and ascertain his reasons for traveling in such a manner. The video has been distributed widely across various social media platforms.
Clarification from the Indian Railways
The Indian Railways has categorically denied the reports as fake and baseless. Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information and Publicity at the Railway Board, stated that the individual was merely hiding near the wheel axle when the train was stationary. “It is practically impossible for anyone to hide on the wheelset of a moving train as it moves along with the wheels,” he explained, quoted by The Hindu.
This incident, whether a figment of imagination or misreported, serves as a reminder of the potential dangers and challenges faced by those without means to secure timely and safe travel arrangements.
