Haryana Raises Retirement Gratuity Limit to ₹25 Lakh

Haryana Government Enhances Gratuity Limit for State Employees

The Haryana government has approved a significant policy initiative to increase the Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity limit for state government employees by 25%. This enhancement, detailed in an official statement, will take effect from January 1, 2025. It elevates the gratuity cap from ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh.

Cabinet Decision and Purpose

The state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, sanctioned this proposal. The increase in gratuity aims to provide enhanced financial security to employees and their families. Furthermore, judicial officers in the state will also benefit from a similar 25% increase in their gratuity limit, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting its workforce.

Indexation Policy Revisions

In another strategic move, the cabinet has revised the Indexation Policy for calculating External Development Charges (EDC). Previously, EDC rates had remained unchanged since 2015. Moving forward, these rates will be indexed annually by 10%. This timely revision is designed to align EDC rates with the current economic conditions.

Aadhaar Authentication for HPSC Exams

Further enhancing the integrity of recruitment processes, the government has mandated Aadhaar authentication for candidates appearing for Group A and B posts in the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) exams. This measure aims to curb fraudulent applications, ensuring fairness and transparency in the hiring process.

Support for Farmers Affected by Weather

Addressing agricultural concerns, Chief Minister Saini highlighted the impact of recent adverse weather conditions in various districts across Haryana. Farmers, whose crops have been affected by heavy rains and hailstorms, can report their losses via the e-reimbursement portal. The government is actively gathering damage reports from affected areas including Tosham, Bawani Khera, and Fatehabad, among others.

These comprehensive measures underscore the Haryana government’s proactive approach to governance, aiming to uplift both its workforce and residents affected by unforeseen challenges.
