Dayle Haddon, a trailblazing former Sports Illustrated model, actress, and activist, has tragically passed away at the age of 76 due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. On a Friday morning, emergency services were called to her residence where Dayle was found in the second-floor bedroom, unconscious. It was later reported that a 76-year-old man, Walter J. Blucas from Erie, was also present and is hospitalized in critical condition. The property was found to have elevated levels of carbon monoxide due to a faulty flue and exhaust pipe on the gas heating system. This unfortunate incident also resulted in two medics being hospitalized for carbon monoxide exposure.

A Rich and Diverse Career

Dayle Haddon was a renowned figure in the modeling world, gracing covers of top magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, and Esquire during the 1970s and 1980s. Additionally, she was featured in the 1973 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and appeared in approximately two dozen films, including the 1994 comedy Bullets Over Broadway alongside John Cusack.

After the birth of her daughter, Ryan, in the mid-1970s, Haddon took a hiatus from modeling. However, following her husband’s death in 1991, she courageously returned to the industry, facing widespread age discrimination along the way, famously stating, “At 38, you’re not viable,” a sentiment that reflected the harsh realities for older models.
