Teens Drone Innovation: Carries Up to 80 Kg at 60 Km/h

Inspiring Innovation from Gwalior: The MLDT 01 Drone

A remarkable milestone has been achieved by 16-year-old Medhansh Trivedi, a student from The Scindia School in Gwalior. Drawing inspiration from advanced drone technology he observed in China, Medhansh developed a drone named MLDT 01 capable of carrying a human weighing up to 80 kg. This ambitious project was realized with a budget of ₹3.5 lakh and took three months of rigorous effort with guidance from his school’s dean, Manoj Mishra.

The Journey of Discovery and Innovation

The journey began with a simple YouTube recommendation that led Medhansh to watch a video about China’s air taxi – a four-seater drone known for its luxury and high cost. Fascinated by what he saw, Medhansh was determined to create an affordable version of his own. “One day I gave a class on how aeroplanes are built. That’s when Trivedi got inspired and began asking me more about the process,” recounted his mentor, suggesting how Medhansh’s curiosity was the driving force behind this innovative project.

Technical Specifications and Capabilities of MLDT 01

The technical prowess of the MLDT 01 is noteworthy. With 5 horsepower at its disposal, this drone can maintain flight for up to six minutes, reaching speeds of 60 kmph. It is designed to carry a payload of up to 80 kg, making it a significant achievement in the realm of human-carrying drones. The MLDT 01 measures 1.8 meters in both length and width, with a maximum ceiling of 10 meters during flight. It operates using four motors, commonly utilized in agricultural drones, ensuring robust functionality.

Medhansh Trivedi’s innovation highlights a promising step towards democratizing drone technology, making it more accessible and affordable. His journey serves as an inspiring tale of how youthful curiosity and determination can lead to groundbreaking inventions, marking a noteworthy contribution to the field of aviation and technology.
